Voyage of the Dawn Treader has a Release Date December 10, 2010:

Watch Narnia 2010 - Twentieth Century Fox and Walden Media will release “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” on December 10, 2010.
The move means “Narnia” will once again be a winter franchise, and places it a day past the five year anniversary of the release of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in 2005.
Twentieth Century Fox recently partnered with Walden on the “Narnia” film series after Disney and Walden parted ways.  It was an easy fit, since Walden Media and Fox have a partnership under the Fox Walden banner.  Disney was the publicity, financial support and distributor for the first two “Narnia” films. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe debuted in December 2005 and cumed $291.7 million domestically.
Prince Caspian was released last May to less spectacular results, cuming $141.2 million at the North American box office. Walden and Fox believe “Narnia” is better suited for a December release.

Devin Brown talks about Narnia Adaptations, Dawn Treader

Watch Narnia 2010- Dr. Devin Brown, the author of Inside The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, has provided us with five signed copies of the book that we’re going to be giving away in the next few weeks.  Last week he was interviewed on Crosswalk.com and gives a very even-handed stance on film adaptation, especially regarding the Narnia films thus far.  One thing that is really interesting is how much some of his comments echo those that Michael Apted made in the recent excerpt from the upcoming SFX magazine interview.
Britton: You’ve seen the first two movies and I take it you’re going to be pretty close to the front of the line to see the third, right?
Brown: Yeah, of course. You know I really enjoyed the first two movies and people always love to ask me. … I’ve been really happy with the first two movies. I really think that they were made by people who loved C. S. Lewis’s books and wanted to stay with the books and I think they’ve been very successful.
You can’t make a great film from a great book without making some changes.  And you know, instead of turning into one of the Narnia police that nixes things that were changed, you know I try to enjoy the things that are good about the movie. I don’t think you can make a movie just anything you want from a book.
Don’t get me wrong, not any change is acceptable. But at the end of the day, I ask myself is the film saying what the book is saying or have they changed it? In both those cases, they have. And I guess the other thing I look forward to is the movies, when they made LOTR, they took Tolkien’s great big book and had to kind of cram it into three movies. These are pretty small books and it gives the filmmakers a chance to kind of open some doors that Lewis didn’t look behind.
Britton: So what in your mind would make the Dawn Treader a faithful and successful film, seeing how the whole book is really very episodic? What do you think they can’t leave out?
Brown: What connects them I think is the spiritual truths that Lewis wants to cast in his imaginary land to say something about spiritual truth in our own life. And one of the big truths in this book is that the greatest enemy is the enemy within. I’m sure that’s gonna be in this movie, that element, and if you ask me what element needs to be in the movie, that’s the big one. I guess the other one of course is … that Eustace gets transformed into a dragon, which is kind of interesting. The real interesting and more interesting I think as believers is the undragoning. We all act like dragons from time to time. That we have a dragonish nature doesn’t surprise most of us. How do you get rid of it? How do you get undragoned? And I think that story will also be interesting. He gets something that he doesn’t deserve and that’s God’s grace, you know the grace to have his dragonish nature removed when he’s unable to get rid of it himself. The theme of temptation and then the theme of grace, getting something that we don’t deserve-Watch Narnia 2010.

The Chronicles of Narnia (film series)

The Chronicles of Narnia is a series of epic fantasy films from Walden Media based on the series of novels, The Chronicles of Narnia written by C. S. Lewis in the 1950s. The first installment, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, was released on December 9, 2005, while the second, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, was released on May 16, 2008; these first two films were directed by Andrew Adamson, produced by Mark Johnson, and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. The third installment, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, will be directed by Michael Apted, and co-produced and distributed by 20th Century Fox. It is scheduled to be released in theaters in the United States and United Kingdom on December 10, 2010, and in Digital 3D in select cinemas. The first official trailer for the film was released with Toy Story 3 on June 18, 2010. It was released online on June 17, 2010. A second trailer was released online on August 3, 2010. It will also be available on Diary of a Wimpy Kid's DVD release.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a 2005 epic fantasy adventure film directed by Andrew Adamson and based on The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the first published and second chronological novel in C. S. Lewis's children's epic fantasy series, The Chronicles of Narnia. It was co-produced by Walden Media and Walt Disney Pictures and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. William Moseley, Anna Popplewell, Georgie Henley and Skandar Keynes play Peter, Susan, Lucy and Edmund, four British children evacuated during the Blitz to the countryside, who find a wardrobe that leads to the fantasy world of Narnia. There they ally with the Lion Aslan (voiced by Liam Neeson) against the forces of Jadis, the White Witch (Tilda Swinton).
The film was released on December 9, 2005 in both Europe and North America to positive reviews and was highly successful at the box office. It won the 2005 Academy Award for Best Make Up and various other awards and is the first film in the series of films based on the books. An Extended Edition was released on December 12, 2006 and was only made available on DVD until January 31, 2007 when it was discontinued. It was the best-selling DVD in North America in 2006 taking in $332.7 million that year.

C. S. Lewis’s second venture into Narnia, Prince Caspian, is sandwiched between two popular favorites, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Coming between the formidable creative and allegorical achievement of the former and the bracing, poetic odyssey of the latter, Lewis’s second effort is perhaps something of an awkward middle child.

Thematically, the book follows up the Narnian passion and redemption story with a vision of post-Enlightenment skepticism, in which the very existence of the omnipotent Lion Aslan and of High King Peter and his siblings has been largely forgotten, suppressed or dismissed as a fairy tale. Lewis thus leaps forward 1300 years into Narnia’s future — the first of a series of bold forays exploring the Narnian world in all conceivable directions and dimensions. (Subsequent books journey east by sea to the world’s edge and beyond, north by foot and down to the depths of the earth, on horseback across desert sands of the south, backward in time and westward to Narnia’s Edenic origins, and finally forward in time to the Narnian apocalypse.)
